Huge Summer Haul! (Urban Outfitters, H&M, Charlotte Russe, etc)

Hi guys, so it has been a while since I last posted, but I recently went shopping. So here I am to show you what I got! I went to Urban Outfitters, Wet Seal, Aeropostale, Charlottle Russe, Delia’s, and H&M.

So I only got one thing at Urban this time. I got this super cute high-waisted shorts with a lace detail at the end. They were on sale for $10. Amazing right? My friend got a dress for $5, thats pretty dang cheap for Urban, and I loved it.

I got a nice flow-y skirt with a navy and white polka-dot design from CR this time. It was on sale for around $10. I also got a pair of mint colored sunglasses for $6 because my sunnies from there that were coral had broken. CR will be the death of me I swear, I have spent so much money there over the past year, they have amazing shoes, okay?

Aero sale! Seriously, most of their stuff was low priced. It might have something to do with a re-vamp I think they are doing. So I got pineapple shorts on sale for $10 from the Bethany Mota collection. I also got both the black skirt and the black aztec print skirt on sale for $10 each. The ruck-sack was $15. I got the backpack because I really wanted an army green ruck-sack and this was low prices and had some cute detailing on it, love it!

Wet Seal had a shorts sale! they had all their shorts 40% off so I got both pairs for $10 each. I have been really into flow-y shorts lately because they don’t squeeze and are light and airy. They also had a sale for 2 belts for $10, which I took up because my white belt had just broke, so I got a white and brown belt.

H&M is just great, okay? And at this point I realized I hadn’t bought any tops, and I needed them, haha. The tank tops were 2 for $10, so I got four. They are black, neon pink, navy blue, and white. I’m not the kind of person who pays $20 for a shirt, and I think H&M understands that, so does Forever 21, which reminds me, I need to get to that store soon. Anyways, then I got a cropped sweater with a black flower design on sale for $10 (why is everything I bought $10?? haha, not complaining). I also got an open black sweater for $12 (WOAH) because I needed something to wear when it gets a little chilly on these summer nights.

Last, but not least, Delia’s. Again, sale. The lighter blue dress, which looks like denim, was on sale for half-off for, you guessed it, $10. The shorts were also half-off for $10, and I’m in love with them, I’m thinking of going back and getting the different designs. The darker blue dress with a bird design was sadly not on sale, so i got it for $35, but fret not, there was a BOGO sale, so I was able to get the tie-die for, dun dun dun, $10.

So is all the shopping I have done recently. Yeah its a lot, but I was sort of looking for a wardrobe re-vamp, seeing as I’m going to college soon and I have been wearing uniforms for school for the past 14 years. There is still more to be done however! haha. I love shopping man. ‘Til next time! 😉

College Decisions

Hi everybody! So today I am going to be talking about my college decision and the difficulties that came with it. I know, first world problems. So I have decided to attend Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, Missouri. This may be a long post. 🙂

So I made this decision about 2 days before May 1st, which is the national college acceptance deadline. The reason it was so late is because up until 4 weeks before the deadline, I thought I was going to Indiana University. But sadly, I did not receive as much scholarship money from them as I had hoped. Also, they required four years of high school math prior to allow me entrance, that would mean taking a course at my community college over the summer. The dates for that were exactly the same as my work schedule, so I would go to work from 8 to 3 and then to class from 7 to 9. No thank you. So 4 weeks before the deadline I had a little bit of a panic attack because I had no idea where to go. I had gotten accepted to Ohio State, Mizzou, Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan, University of Arizona, Indiana University, and Saint Louis University. The next weekend we went and visited SLU and Mizzou.

What I liked about SLU is that it is in a city, so it will be less like “college”. You see, some people go to college sort of for a “college” experience, parties, football games, sororities and fraternities, that sort of thing. I personally am not all that interested in that, so a college that has more of a actual life setting interested me. I want to start my life, not another buffer state. I totally understand why some people would want the college experience, for everyone is different, but I’m excited to start my life. Just call me Rapunzel (#TangledObsessed). I also liked that it will be warmer than my chilly Chicago-land life. I am not however so impressed with the dorms that were shown on tour. Not a fan of curved edges to walls and really not interested in community bathrooms. Another issue is that SLU does not have a whole lot of courses that fit what I want. I am currently undecided, but I do what to do something in the communications/ film production area. They do however seem to have an amazing study aboard program, which I am very very very interested in. They even have a sister school in Madrid, Spain. Yes please.

For a while I was quite scared of what college will be like. I’m sort of introverted, so the idea of roommates is intimidating. Like what happens when I catch a cold, they will be disgusted by me. Or the fact that I spend a lot of time on YouTube. I guess I should invest in a good pair of headphones. But I guess I’ll have to get over these fears, unless I am blessed enough to be assigned a single room. Another issue is Saint Louis is that it is quite small, around 12,000 I believe. They said the average class size is around 25 students. That sounds dreadfully similar to high school. Ugh. That would be terrible.

I may sound quite unhappy with my decision, but I’m not. However, I do not see SLU as entirely permanent. Before I accepted Saint Louis I had looked into the possibility of being a spring admit to either University of California: Berkeley or Southern California University. They did not have any openings, but I may be able to apply next fall as a transfer. You see, back last fall when I applied to schools, I had no idea what I wanted out of college. I didn’t know what I wanted to major in, what type of school I wanted, I didn’t know anything. So I applied to a few schools near me. Now I know what I want and sadly none of the schools I applied to fit what I want. Saint Louis was the closest.

Saint Louis is a Catholic school. I have been in Catholic education my entire life, and I did not want that any more, but alas, one must pick their battles. I’m not too religious myself. I’m not a fan of organized religion, but I like to believe I have some sort of moral compass, whether that is God or not, I don’t know. But I’m not here today to discuss religion. Also, one last thing about Saint Louis. Their mascot, the Billiken, is UGLY. I mean look at it, just hideous.

So here I am today, two weeks before I am done with high school, and I am going to college. Lots of mixed emotions: excitement, nervousness, fear, happiness, relief. I’m every emotion and its opposite it seems. Well, I’ll talk to you guys next week. Thank you and goodbye! 🙂 ❤

Galena Trip

Galena 1

Hi everyone! So a couple weekends ago a couple of friends and I went down to Galena IL for a couple of days. We were looking for a fun thing to do and I suggested Galena. Galena is a very cute little town, pretty much a tourist town, with a great historic downtown. It was an amazing time and I suggest it to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation with little “big town” distractions.

So we drove down there on a Saturday and checked into our hotel. After we got settled we went into the downtown and had dinner at a burger restaurant. After dinner we walked around the downtown a bit, but most of the stores closed around 6. We went back to the hotel, and then I fell asleep around 9 (Hey, it was a lot of driving for me that day, that’s tiring work ya know). My friends went down to the pool however and saw that the hotel was hosting the town’s prom that night. Imagine them all dressed up and nice looking and then my friends in their swimsuits soaking wet. Yup, I’m sure they liked that. haha.

The next day one of my friends had to leave early for work, but the rest of us had breakfast at the hotel, checked-out, and went into town. It was a bit dreary and rainy at the start of the day so I was unable to get a lot of good photos. We walked around downtown for a while, shopped a bit, and when to an amazing pizza place, Cannova’s I think it is called, and had delicious BBQ Chicken pizza (to die for). We went to a store where we could make our own candles, an old fashioned candy store, an old fashioned ice cream shop, and a couple of toy stores. One with a lot of cool puzzles and toys, including moldable sand that I got for my boyfriend for his prom gift (shh don’t tell him!) and the other where we played with toy race cars.

As we left we drove around the gigantic hills (that was terrifying) where I was able to get a good photo of an overview of the town. because the weather finally cleared up (of course, just as we are leaving) which is the bottom photo in my collage. We then found a cool waterfall (top left photo) which would’ve been cool to swim in if 1) it was warm out 2) the government allowed it. That government, always getting in the way.

As I was unable to get many photos of the downtown area, I found two so you guys could see what it was like. I  found one of the Main street by Robert Keeling. I found another of the Galena river that runs right by the downtown by Ivo Shandor.

All in all it was a very fun trip where I was able to bond with my friends and make memories. With trips like these I don’t think it matters where you go, just who you’re with and the experiences you take away from them. You know what they say, “Focus on the journey, not the destination” -Greg Anderson

‘Till next week 🙂 Bye!

April Favorites

Hi guys! So April was a weird month, eh? It was still really cold here in Chicago and it was dreary and random. Not fun. On the one day it was warm I got sunburnt 😡  But not its May and it is looking hopeful! I just got back from a fun Prom weekend (btw last week was one of the most stressful weeks of my life yet far, because of Prom and college decisions, I’ll blog about that later) But anyways, here are my favorites over the past month.Rose Makeup High

Top Left- Covergirl truMagic The Sunkisser in the shade 110 Bronzer
I love this bronzer. It is a cream bronze so you have to rub it in to your skin, but it works really well with my skin and it blends beautifully. I use a contour brush instead of the sponge it comes with, but the sponge is helpful for large areas like the neck.

Top Middle- Rimmel London’s Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer
Sephora’s Colorful Liquid 24 HR Waterproof Eyeliner in 01 Black Lace
I loved both of these products this month. The eye shadow primer is great for everyday use. It is cheap and doesn’t last all day, but it works for school or work. The liquid liner is one of my favorites. Since it is waterproof when you wash it off it peels off than dissolves, which I love (so easy!) Sometimes it is a bit translucent so I have to shake the tube and reapply, but it isn’t bad for everyday use.

Top Right- Clinque Happy Perfume
This perfume is so fresh and sophisticated, it’s great. I got it for my birthday back in September, but I recently started wearing it a lot more often. I even put some in a travel perfume tube thingy (so good at words.)

Bottom Left- L’Oréal Paris Clean Artiste Oil Free Eye-Makeup Remover
This is an amazing eye makeup remover. I use a Q-tip with these and sweep under my eye in the morning and after I wash my face at night. It quickly removes the black from my mascara and the best part is that I don’t have to wash it off afterwards because it is oil free.

Bottom Middle- Neutrogena’s Nourishing Long Wear Makeup 12 HR Foundation in 30 Buff
This foundation has a great light-medium coverage, which I like because I hate looking like I’m wearing a lot of makeup. It is also extremely light so I don’t feel like I’m wearing it. I even wore it to prom I had so much faith. I tried this out because Bethany Mota from YouTube said she liked it, so I obviously had to get it (totally white girl moment.)

Bottom Right- Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Nail Color in 113 Sand Storm, 110 Clearly Quick, 230 Silver Sweep, 430 Brisk Blue, 150 Petal Pusher, and 130 Fuchsia Flare
What an amazing nail polish (or varnish.) I adore how quickly it dries on my nails. I am one of those people that hate painting my nails because I feel I can’t do anything for 30 minutes (and then I spend 3 hours doing nothing anyways.) Not all the colors are as opaque as I want them to be, but because it does dry fast, additional coats of polish isn’t that much of a hassle.

Rose Food High

Top Left- Trader Joe’s Green Tea Infused Mints.
Holy moley are these good. It tastes like green tea and mint, which doesn’t sound good, but it is heavenly. I have given some to people who don’t even like tea and they think they are tasty. Highly recommend, I have to get more soon anyways.

Bottom Left- Trader Joe’s Fruit Jellies
Look more Trader Joe’s. These are delicious and I think I can get away with eating like five at a time because they are made with real fruit so they are healthy right? (Probably not) But if you have a major sweet tooth like me, these are amazing.

Right- Arizona Green Tea (Peach Flavored) Squeeze Bottle
So this is like those Mio things but with tea, I almost got the Arnold Palmer one (because favorite summer drink) but it was Strawberry flavored and I’m not in to that stuff. I personally love water, but sometimes you need something with more flavor, and this was cheap and makes a lot of serving and quick. I bring this with pretty much every where.

Well that is it for my favorites of last month. Talk to you next week. Bye 🙂

Raku Pottery

Hello! How are you? So the other day in my pottery class we had someone come and help us with Raku firing. Raku firing is a special kind of firing that makes the glaze have cool results that would differ from firing in a normal kiln. (P.S. do you pronounce kiln KILL or KILNE?) My three pots are above, the first one has a dream catcher design, the  actual dream catcher design with the strings and feathers had a blue glaze applied to them and they turned a copper like color, the background was glazed white and turned white with areas of darker off white. The second pot I threw together within two classes, but it didn’t turn out too badly, minus the dumb swirl applique. I glazed the background a red crackle, the result was a coral-like color, minimal crackle effects. I glazed the designed portion a blue color (same as the dream catcher) and the top of the glaze kept a blue-green color, and the bottom turned a copper color. My third pot had a tree design on the other side, but I didn’t like how that turned out. I glazed it all a blue-bell glaze and half of it turned out a copper color and the other half turned out a dark blue like color. These pots were made with specialized clay and glaze provided to us by the person who helped us with the firing. Below are some pictures of the process.

The pots first go into a modified garbage and reach extremely high temperatures (I can’t remember the numbers) for around 20 minutes. They are then taken out and put into another garbage can with either saw dust or leaves and sticks to cool down slightly for around 15 minutes. After that they are placed in a pool of water for their final cool down. Then you can clean them of smut and the saw dust left overs.
This process was a really cool change from the normal pottery process. It was exciting/scary to not know what the result would look like. I have done this before, but sadly my pot has been lost since then and I didn’t take any pictures, but I liked these results better. I can’t wait until I’m able to take them home, though I am clueless to how I will use them. How would you use pots like these in your home or office? Talk to you guys later! Bye!

Easter & OOTD

ImageImageImage Image Image
Hi Everybody! Happy Easter! Hope you guys have had a great day! I love Easter because the weather is warm (p.s. I sat in the sun for half the day and I’m pretty sure I’m sun burnt, grrr), family comes together, the food is fresh and delicious, I feel productive, and LENT IS OVER! I forgot to give anything up this year, whoops. I was able to refresh my playlists and music, clean a lot of the house, I still need to put out some Easter decorations, but I’ll get to that soon. Yeah, we forget to put out Easter decorations (pretty much any holiday decorations) until right before the family comes over, but Easter decorations can last for a while after because spring, right? With all the busy schedules and stress, this is a nice day to relax and be happy, or should i say HOPPY. I’ll leave now.
